According to Trumbull police Lt. Keith Golding, police were altered to the situation around 5 a.m. by a 911 call from the home on White Plains Road in the Trumbull Business Center area.
Responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle, a blue Jeep Liberty, traveling south on White Plains Road and signaled for it to stop, police said.
Instead of stopping, the driver took off at a high rate of speed, pursued by Trumbull police into Bridgeport, where it ran off the road near East Main and Evers streets. The vehicle then struck a stone wall in the front yard of a residence and rolled over several times, Golding said.
A Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun was recovered from the suspect vehicle at the scene of the crash, police said.
The two men inside the vehicle, Juan Rivera, 30, and Marvin Allen, 42, who were treated at Bridgeport Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, were arrested for home Invasion, possession of a firearm, burglary, threatening and various other charges.
Trumbull Police detectives are continuing the investigation. Golding said they have reason to believe that the victim’s residence was specifically targeted by the suspects and was not randomly selected. No one in the victim’s home was injured during this incident.
Rivera is being held on $750,000 bond. Allen is being held on 500,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
No police vehicles were involved in the collision and no police officers were injured during the pursuit.
